The Oasys Computer Program

Oasys-2 is a computer program that plots and interprets serial peak expiratory flow (PEF) readings of patients suspected as having occupational asthma or work-related asthma. Oasys-2 uses a discriminant analysis to score the record between 1 and 4 using a cutoff of 2.5. Scores above this have a 94% specificity for occupational asthma and a 75% sensitivity when using independent methods of diagnosis. There are two other flavours of Oasys, Oasys-3 and Oasys-N, but these have not been independently validated as yet.

A new version of Oasys has now been released, please click on the link below to download it. You can still request the old version of Oasys if you prefer.

You can comment on the latest Oasys question:

A new PEF Meter manufactured to the new European Standard EN 13826 will be available from 1st Sept 2004. This will replace the Wright PEF. There could be differences of up to 30% in the readings. Could you advise on how we proceed re our occupational monitoring.
