Occupational asthma has been described in plaster room technicians (for putting plaster casts on broken bones) who are sometimes also exposed to isocynates and epoxy support bandages. Whether the plaster of paris dust itself can cause low dose irritant induced asthma is unclear but a possibility.
Plaster of paris is calcium sulphate hemihydrate.
